Aquaventure Waterpark in Dubai is popular among tourists. It is located on the artificial island of Palm Jumeirah, in the five-star Atlantis hotel. Tour operators send all visitors on a tour of Palm Jumeirah Island, followed by a visit to Aquaventure, so despite all its charms, the waterpark is always crowded. In the centre is a 30-metre-high pyramid called Ziggurat, inside which there are all kinds of slides.
A river with a current and waterfalls runs around the water park, and is about two kilometres long. I have to say that we never made it to the water park. I will tell you about our unfortunate experience, perhaps the information will be useful, and you will plan your trip more successfully. I will also tell you about the impressions of our friends, who turned out to be more resilient and still enjoyed the slides.
We arrived at the artificial island of Palm Jumeirah on our own using the monorail. We chose this route because the monorail runs about 20 metres above the island, and only from this height can you see Palm Jumeirah, or rather its branches. After walking around the island for a while, we headed to the water park. The entrance is through the hotel lobby. By the way, the design is quite original. Then we saw a long queue and stopped to wait. After a while, the desire to go to the water park began to fade, and after tourist buses arrived one after another and crowds of people headed for the water park, the desire disappeared altogether. The buses arrive around 10 a.m. The tourist groups formed a separate queue and now only they were being let in. It became clear that the wait would be long. Considering that we had a small child with us, we would only have been able to get into the water park by lunchtime, so we decided to leave. Next, in a nutshell, are the impressions of more persistent people who stayed at our hotel, took the excursion and then shared their impressions.
Naturally, before the start of the excursion, the bus circled the streets of Deira for a long time, picking up everyone who wanted to go. Then we arrived at the artificial island. It is impossible to see the outline of the island from the bus window, but the tour group did not have to wait very long in line in front of the water park. Everyone was wildly excited about the slides, and they also liked the lazy river that flows past the pools, where you can sunbathe. The biggest downside was the crowds. The water park is huge, but most of the people gathered near the slides. And there wasn’t much time to relax, as the next part of the tour was coming up. A ticket to the water park costs 225 dirhams for adults and 180 dirhams for children.
The price is high compared to water parks in other countries, but all excursions in Dubai are expensive, and there are many offers to take photos or buy special souvenirs, which end up costing a lot. Don’t forget your towels and swimsuits, as the prices in the shop at the entrance to the water park are crazy. Towel rental in the park costs 30 dirhams. Even though we didn’t get into the water park, we got a good view from the outside to appreciate the Ziggurat tower, the pools, the lazy river and the rather original design of the entire park. I still recommend visiting the Aquaventure water park, but don’t repeat our mistakes, and there’s no need to take a tour. It’s best to arrive early in the morning when the park is only open to Atlantis hotel guests and there are no tour groups or crowds at the entrance.
If you come on your own, you can spend the whole day at the water park and then take a monorail ride and see the palm tree island from above. I hope that knowing the pros and cons, your holiday at the water park will be much more successful. Have a nice trip.
