While vacationing in Dubai, we decided to visit a water park. We chose between Wild Wadi and Aquaventure (Atlantis). In the end, we decided to stay at Atlantis and take a walk on Palma Island.
The water park offers a huge selection of entertainment for all ages, including a private 700-metre beach. Here you can not only ride water attractions, but also learn to dive, visit The Lost Chambers Aquarium, watch the fish being fed, get a tattoo, have your hair braided in African style, take a walk in the tropical forest… For an additional fee, you can even swim with sharks or dolphins.
We got there by monorail.
We walked around a bit in front of the Atlantis hotel and went to the water park. We arrived early, right after it opened. There weren’t many people yet, so we immediately went swimming in the lazy river…. The river is very long and boring…. We swam along it for a long time….
Then we went to ride the slides… Just at that moment, the crowds arrived. So we had to stand in long queues.
The water park is beautiful, with greenery and waterfalls everywhere… There aren’t many slides, but it was enough for me. The water park is similar to Siam Park in Tenerife. The slides are the same.
All the slides are only for inflatable tubes. There are single and double tubes.
All the slides start from one tower – Poseidon’s Tower. But from different floors. There are 7 slides in total. The tower is built in the style of Ancient Mesopotamia. Two slides go through an aquarium:
1. The most extreme slide: The Leap of Faith. An almost vertical drop. Height 27.5 metres.
2. The Serpent. First, there is a fast spiral descent, and then you fly out into a tube that goes into the aquarium. In the tube, you drift slowly.
The other slides are quite similar. They are interesting because you don’t just slide down the slide as usual, but the water lifts you up the slide… It’s like a roller coaster: there’s a descent and an ascent, only with water.
There is also a large interesting aquarium called Lost Chambers, through which the Serpent slide passes.
The children’s complex looks very interesting, but I didn’t go there as we didn’t have children with us.
Food and drinks are, of course, all paid for and not cheap, as is the case everywhere in places like this. You are not allowed to bring your own food and drinks.
There is a paid luggage storage room.
To be honest, I was expecting something incredible from this water park. But in reality, it turned out to be a good water park, but nothing outstanding. Only the aquarium… In the aquarium, there are stingrays, sharks, and colourful fish. It’s interesting to see.
But I still recommend visiting it for a change of pace — it’s just the thing!
We wanted to go to Wild Wadi for comparison, but we didn’t have enough time. If I ever find myself in Dubai again, I will definitely go there.
