Good day to everyone reading this! In this review, we will relax at Aquaventure Water Park, located on the grounds of the Atlantis hotel palace, covering an area of 17 hectares, with a 2 km long beach and attractions featuring live sharks and stingrays.
My husband and I are already in our ‘young’ Balzac age, and we don’t have a particular craving for extreme holidays, especially since my husband has a rather risky profession as a pilot.
We were prompted to visit Atlantis Waterpark by curiosity and tired legs, swollen after an active ‘rest’ in Dubai. Our friends explained that visitors to Aquaventure can spend the whole day lying on the hotel’s beach if they wish.
Upon arrival at the Atlantis hotel, we joined a long queue for tickets to the water park.
Here are the ticket prices when booking ONLINE (the price will be cheaper) for guests for ONE day, depending on the age and height of visitors
– over 1.2 metres = 260 dirhams (1$ = 3.65 AED)
– under 1.2 metres = 210 dirhams
– from 0 to 2 years old – free
To get your ticket booked online, you need to go to the ‘Advance Ticket Booking’ desk upon arrival. My husband and I, ‘unburdened’ by the necessary knowledge, stood in a huge queue at the ticket office and paid the full price. Oh well, live and learn, knowledge is power, and ignorance is darkness!
I also recommend finding, reading and following the water park rules online, taking into account the laws, customs and etiquette of a Muslim country.
Next, you decide what to do: either lock all your personal belongings in a safe,
rent an ATLANTIS inflatable ring for your rear end and surrender to the water attractions, or ‘walk gradually,’ as the people of Odessa say. We chose the second option, not knowing what excitement awaited us.
Above us, we see the world’s largest water slide, ‘Poseidon’s Tower,’ where you can really ‘tickle’ your nerves. The water park offers a variety of extreme activities for every taste: a 2 km river rafting trip, swimming with dolphins, diving lessons, zip-line rides, and more.
It was a pleasure to be on the beach: a deserted shore, the purest white sand, super comfortable sun loungers, turquoise, fairly cool water, and it was January, with an air temperature of around 24 degrees and the water at 18 degrees. The locals don’t swim, but the crazy Ukrainians rule the waters of the Persian Gulf.
The water park looks like a series of picturesque scenes, just snap away with your camera to the right and left:
One of the attractions is the ‘Atlantean Pilots’ zip line, which rises to a height of 20 metres.
Feel like an Atlantean pilot
The ‘pilots’ rush down the descent and contemplate the magnificent views of the coast and the city from above.
The aquariums with their inhabitants are a mesmerising sight. Inside the aquarium, there is a transparent tunnel where you can ride inflatable rings surrounded by a school of predatory sharks.
I didn’t expect stingrays to be so sociable, endlessly ‘posing’ for the camera and ‘smiling’.
In the shallow waters of Shark Lagoon, children enjoy interacting with the incredibly friendly stingrays, stroking and feeding them from their hands, albeit for an additional fee.
It is an almost vertical slide the size of a nine-storey building.
LEAP OF FAITH
where you can take a LEAP OF FAITH at breakneck speed in a second. That’s the name of the attraction. And here, my brave husband’s soul got excited and demanded adrenaline. He jumped into the ‘unknown’ several times. Many of the men jumping off the slide with overweight wives were ‘identified’ immediately, but my grasshopper flew for less than a second, and exclusive bright shorts helped capture the moment on camera.
The water park has a well-organised team of lifeguards to prevent injuries. We were impressed by the work of the staff: they spend the whole day in the water, watching people and making sure they keep their distance.
The lifeguard team is always on the alert
TIP!!! It is physically impossible to try all the attractions in ONE day at the water park, so find a description of the attractions you want to try online in advance to get the most out of the expensive entrance fee.
We really enjoyed Aquaventure Water Park! Tired and full from all the excitement, we literally fell into the seats of the electric car and said goodbye to the Atlantis hotel grounds, which were surrounded by greenery and flowers.
